A Love Story

Amie is a speech pathologist who teaches children to name their feelings. She has never been able to name her own. Mike is a photographer who sees people more clearly through a lens than he does across a kitchen table. He has spent twelve years in therapy learning not to ask the question he can already feel forming.

When they meet at a party in New York, something happens that neither of them is ready for. What follows is water in tall glasses, walks that go nowhere, and the slow, terrifying project of staying.

A Love Story is a dual-perspective novel about alexithymia and anxious attachment, about what happens when the person you love most is also the person your nervous system doesn't know how to be safe with. It is a love story. Whether it has a happy ending depends on what you think happy means.
